Letter to wine spectator
2004 was a very exciting time for the Little Venice Restaurant. Aside from the usual hiccups of the trade, business was very good and we had the good fortune of taking over the adjacent retail space and connecting it to our dining room. This area is our wine bar so therefore we are now officially known as the Little Venice Restaurant and Wine Bar. Construction and the decorating are nearly complete so in the coming days we will be putting onthe finishing touches. In the meantime, taking over this space has provided us with extra storage space which we happily turned into another temperature controlled wine room. I say happily as it has long been our dream to be a premier wine destination restaurant. With teh added space, we have greatly increased the number of offerings. In fact, we have gone from about 235 wines to a selection of over 770.

We didn't carry French wines before and now we have a great selection of whites and reds with an emphasis on the fine Bordeaux. The scope of our California selection has also greatly increased and in all areas we offer several verticals. Although much of our new offerings are in the high end of pricing we continue in our belief of having a selection in all price categories and for every palette. I trust that you will agree. We continue to have a great selection of large format bottles, many of which appear on our list but we offer several that don't. Another new approach is to offer a good selection of half bottles.

Another new approach is to offer an expanded listing of wines by the glass. For now we offer red and whites and the producers change periodically. For example, one month we might be pouring Pio Cesare Gavi and then change it to the Morgassi. In any regard, the wines on offer are always of a good quality.

Our commitment to quality dining has not wavered. Our friendly and relaxed service is still very much a part of our persona. We constantly re-evaluate our methods and bring new ideas on board to create a menu with items both interesting and beautiful to the eye.
